i made it to japan. this place is crazy. so many people, so many big buildings, so many pretty lights. i found a little art community called design festa. www.designfesta.com/02_en/inde… have a look it is pretty rad. also have been to some great galleries and seen some interesting contemporary japanese art. www.tomiokoyamagallery.com is a great gallery. i have started doing some small paintings here in my little room in tokyo. when they're done i'll put em up.

'The Girls' artist statement
i've been making different kinds of art these last few years, hence the lack of posts here.
still trying to figure out what the hell i'm on about, it all started with a real look at my own identity. i've written up a quick statement if you wanna read about "The Girls" series.
Statement - The Girls
This series of paintings from 2005-2008 consists of images of the female form layered with text and graphical elements inspired by traditional Japanese imagery. A strong influence from Melbourne's popular street art aesthetic is evident in the earlier works, however, the later works show a maturing and refining of some of the techniques employed

The second Hip Pop show continues with the best of young fresh exciting Australian talent. Supporting Father Chris Rileys Youth off the Streets once again the exhibition aims to showcase 4 "Hip" and 4 "Pop" artists from 2008. A donation will be made from the sale of each artwork to the Father Chris Riley charity.

SOLO EXHIBITION
I'm having my solo show in Melbourne on the 4th of JULY at ARTASIS - 323 Lennox street Richmond, Victoria, Australia - www.artasis.com.au
Opening night - 4th July, 6-8, and the show will run for a month.
If you're in the area, come along and enjoy a drink with me, we can talk about art and stuff! :)
The show will include previously unseen works, including a self portrait (the only one!) and also some smaller works on wallpaper.
